THE HISTORY OF VODKA

Historically, the production of vodka started in the early 14th century.

Early Vodka recipes at this time were made by the distillation of grapes, and was considered to be a spirit wine, as it was a combination of English spirits and wine.

Then legend suggests in around 1430, a monk named Isidore from a Monastery inside the Moscow Kremlin made the first recipe for vodka ( meaning little water ) similar to how we know it today, having a special knowledge in distillation, he created a higher quality of alcoholic beverage using grains, it was referred to as “burning wine”.

Moving forward to the 8th June 1751 the Empress Elizabeth regulated the ownership of vodka distilleries and by the 1860s it became the drink of choice for many Soviets.

But after1863, the Russian monopoly on vodka manufacturing was repealed, creating an opportunity for experimental vodka production to grow and be enjoyed throughout the world.
